Last updated: July 1, 2026

1. Overview

TrueRate Energy (“TrueRate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides electricity comparison tools intended to help users estimate and compare retail electricity plans based on ZIP code, electricity usage, plan rates, service-area data, and other plan details.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information through our website, calculators, forms, and related services.

TrueRate is designed to collect only the information needed to provide comparisons, improve the product, respond to users, and support provider or referral relationships.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect ZIP code, monthly electricity usage, optional home size, optional current bill, optional solar production, optional email address, and messages submitted through the contact form.

We may also collect technical information such as device type, browser type, page views, referral source, approximate region, timestamps, form events, error logs, and general usage analytics.

We store and process retail electricity plan data, provider names, logos, plan names, rates, TDU fees, monthly fees, bill credits, early termination fees, EFL links, ZIP/TDU mappings, and supported service areas.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to provide estimated electricity comparisons, determine utility or TDU service area, save search activity, improve results, respond to support requests, maintain the website, prevent misuse, evaluate plan popularity, and support referral, broker, or affiliate relationships where applicable.

We do not use your information to determine creditworthiness, insurance eligibility, employment eligibility, or any consumer-reporting purpose.

4. Supabase and Data Storage

TrueRate uses Supabase and related infrastructure to store and manage certain website data. This may include searches, optional leads, plan data, ZIP/TDU mappings, provider availability, and contact-form submissions.

If you submit an email address, it may be stored with your inquiry or lead record. If you do not submit an email address, searches may still be stored without directly identifying contact information.

5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics

TrueRate may use cookies, local storage, session storage, or similar technologies to keep the site functional, remember temporary inputs, understand site usage, prevent abuse, and improve performance.

6. How We Share Information

We may share information with service providers, hosting and database vendors, analytics providers, retail electricity providers, broker or affiliate partners, legal authorities when required, and business successors in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense of exchanging your data for money.

7. Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service, database, or transmission method is completely secure.

We retain information as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain records, improve TrueRate, comply with obligations, resolve disputes, and support legitimate business purposes.

8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or review of information associated with your email address, subject to legal, technical, and business limitations.

You can avoid submitting optional information such as your email address. You can also adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies, though some site functionality may be affected.
