TrueRate is a registered Texas electricity broker, not a REP or utility.
Calculator values are manually entered and are not sold for money or other valuable consideration.

TrueRate is a registered Texas electricity broker and comparison service. Calculator inputs may include ZIP code, manually entered electricity usage, home size, current electricity bill, solar production and other calculator inputs. ZIP code and electricity usage may be sensitive in context even when they do not directly identify a person. TrueRate does not use calculator inputs for credit scoring, insurance decisions, employment decisions or other automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
During enrollment TrueRate does not collect name, service address, phone number, date of birth, SSN, driver's license or passport number, payment or bank information, electricity account number, utility or Smart Meter Texas credentials, biometric information, precise GPS location, health information, race or ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation or similar sensitive characteristics. TrueRate has no user accounts, login/password functionality, saved profiles, utility usage history, Smart Meter Texas history or usage history from provider APIs. Enrollment-sensitive information is entered directly on the retail electric provider's website.
TrueRate uses manually entered values for site functionality, analytics, QA and troubleshooting. The current calculator write stores ZIP code, manually entered usage, current bill, and result fields such as the recommended provider, recommended plan and estimated bill in a search record. Home size and solar production may be used as calculator inputs where applicable, but they are not included in that current search write; a selected plan is not stored by that write. Calculator data may be stored temporarily or historically. An optional calculator email field existed historically and is being removed; no new calculator emails should be collected. Historical emails already stored in Supabase may remain until no longer reasonably needed or until a valid deletion request is received, subject to legal and operational requirements. TrueRate does not use customer emails for marketing email or SMS/text marketing.
When you click View Plan, ZIP, usage, current bill, home size and solar production are not sent to the REP by TrueRate. Only a promo code or referral identifier may be included in the outbound link; it does not contain calculator inputs or personal information.
Supabase stores certain site data and historical calculator records and may contain information previously submitted through the calculator.
Google Analytics may process browser/device information, approximate IP-derived location, page interactions, referral source, site usage and similar analytics information for analytics, performance measurement, campaign attribution and advertising measurement where enabled.
Tawk.to may process chat messages, device/browser information, IP-related information and contact information voluntarily provided by a visitor. TrueRate wants chat transcripts periodically deleted rather than retained indefinitely.
TrueRate does not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration. TrueRate does not use customer emails for marketing, send SMS marketing or use phone numbers for outbound sales or telemarketing. Future tools will be documented here and changed practices will be updated before they begin.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information and other applicable rights. Email support@trueratetx.com. TrueRate may ask only for enough information to locate and verify the specific record requested.
TrueRate may retain information until no longer reasonably needed or until a valid deletion request is received. Longer retention may be reasonably needed for legal compliance, regulatory obligations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or security.
TrueRate uses reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards. No transmission or storage method can be guaranteed 100% secure.
TrueRate will respond to incidents, investigate and take reasonable containment/remediation steps, and provide legally required notices.
Information may transfer in a sale, merger, reorganization or asset transfer, subject to law. TrueRate may disclose information when legally required, including by subpoena, court order, regulatory request or lawful government process.
TrueRate is for users age 18+ and does not knowingly collect children's personal information. The service is intended for U.S./Texas users and data may be processed in the United States. TrueRate does not claim automated technical support for every Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal; rights are handled under applicable law.
TrueRate is a Texas electricity broker registered with the PUCT as BR260166 and handles customer-specific electricity information consistent with applicable PUCT confidentiality/privacy requirements. TrueRate currently does not receive utility account history, Smart Meter Texas history or REP-provided customer usage history. TrueRate does not have authority to enroll, switch, cancel, or modify electricity service on a customer’s behalf.
TrueRate may update this policy as practices, technology or legal requirements change. The Last Updated date identifies the current version.
