The rules, disclosures and limitations that apply when you use TrueRate's Texas electricity comparison service.

TRUERATE ENERGY LLC is registered with the Public Utility Commission of Texas as electricity broker BR260166. Its mailing address is P. O. BOX 7039, HOUSTON, TX 77248. TrueRate does not have authority to enroll, switch, cancel, or modify electricity service on a customer’s behalf. TrueRate is not a REP, TDU/utility, generator or billing company. Participating providers are commercial partners, not corporate affiliates or owners.
TrueRate compares plans, calculates estimated bills and provides neutral electricity-plan education/comparison guidance, including through live chat. TrueRate does not make the final decision or steer customers based on provider compensation. The customer contracts with the selected REP. TrueRate does not have authority to enroll, switch, cancel, or modify electricity service on a customer's behalf.
TrueRate may receive compensation from participating REPs when a customer enrolls. Compensation may vary; exact commissions are not published. It does not affect plan ranking or neutral live-chat guidance. Eligibility may depend on successful enrollment or provider payout conditions, and TrueRate does not control when a provider pays.
TrueRate may not include every Texas provider or plan. Participation may change and absence does not mean a provider is worse. There is currently no sponsored ranking, paid featured placement or pay-to-rank system.
Normal plans are primarily ordered by estimated monthly bill at entered usage. Solar uses separate solar/buyback logic. Models may include usage, energy charges, TDU charges, base charges, bill credits, usage tiers, plan-specific rules and modeled EFL terms. Taxes, assessments, municipal charges, one-time charges, deposits, late fees, reconnect/disconnect fees and other provider charges may not be modeled unless disclosed.
If an estimate conflicts with a provider Electricity Facts Label, enrollment document, Terms of Service, Your Rights as a Customer or provider contract, the provider's official documentation controls. Customers are responsible for reviewing provider documents before enrolling.
No Guarantee of Savings. TrueRate provides estimates only and does not guarantee an exact bill, savings, rate, availability or future cost.
Customers are responsible for accurate ZIP, usage, solar production, current bill and other inputs. Home size and current bill are contextual aids, not substitutes for actual usage or provider documents.
ZIP-to-TDU mapping uses available service-area data; ZIP codes can overlap territories. Confirm eligibility during enrollment.
Credits may apply only in usage ranges. Bills can change sharply above or below thresholds; actual usage determines the result.
Free nights, days, weekends and other time-based pricing depend on when electricity is used and on non-free pricing.
Solar comparisons may use production, import/export, buyback credits, caps, rollover, real-time/wholesale pricing and settlement assumptions. Production and savings are not guaranteed.
Provider rules control prepaid balances, deposits, daily charges, minimum balances, notices, disconnection, reconnection and other prepaid terms.
The REP controls eligibility, verification, deposits, credit requirements, approval, service date and account creation. TrueRate is not responsible for outages, meters, interruptions, billing errors, deposits, credit decisions, disconnections or enrollment decisions.
After leaving TrueRate, provider terms, privacy policy and enrollment rules apply. View Plan links may append a promo code or referral identifier that contains no calculator inputs or personal information.
TrueRate may rely on provider APIs, EFLs, provider-supplied plan data and availability data. Errors, outages, delays, outdated data or synchronization issues may affect results.
Providers may change rates, fees, EFLs, names, eligibility, territory, promotions or availability. TrueRate may not reflect every change immediately and may correct obvious errors.
TrueRate may provide neutral electricity-plan education/comparison guidance, including live chat, but not legal, tax, financial, engineering or other regulated professional advice. The customer decides.
TrueRate serves Texas electricity customers and is designed around Texas retail electricity, REPs, TDUs, EFLs and PUCT requirements.
Customers retain PUCT complaint rights, court remedies where allowed and non-waivable Texas rights. Concerns may be directed to the PUCT using its official consumer resources.
No scraping, automated extraction, unauthorized bots, reverse engineering, calculator manipulation, malicious traffic, impersonation, fraud, abuse or unauthorized resale of TrueRate content/data.
TrueRate name, logo, design, calculator logic, written content, graphics and software are protected. Provider logos, trademarks, plan names and EFL materials remain their owners' property and may be shown for identification/comparison.
Uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Access may be limited for maintenance, upgrades, outages, security, technical issues or provider disruptions. Features, calculators, integrations and provider connections may change.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, TrueRate is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or provider-caused losses. Non-waivable rights are not waived.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify TrueRate for misuse, fraud, unlawful activity or Terms violations.
TrueRate is not responsible for events outside reasonable control, including outages, internet failures, cyber incidents, government actions, natural disasters and provider disruptions.
Unenforceable provisions do not affect the rest. Non-enforcement is not waiver. Assignment may occur in a business transfer. Terms, Privacy and incorporated disclosures form the complete agreement.
Legally required notices may be delivered through the website or email where applicable. This is not marketing consent.
Texas law governs. Court disputes may be handled in Harris County, Texas, subject to non-waivable rights.
TrueRate may update Terms or Privacy. Last Updated identifies the current version; no separate public revision history is maintained.
